From agreed price to your registrar in 1–3 business days.
Every Flair sale runs through the same five-step process — escrow-secured, auDA-compliant, fully tracked. Here's exactly what happens after you say "let's do it".
What happens at each step
-
1
Agree on price & terms
You and your Flair broker confirm the final number, payment structure, and the entity the domain will be registered to. Three pricing structures are available:
- Outright purchase — pay the full asking price, take the domain immediately.
- Lease-to-own — split the price into 12 equal monthly payments. Domain transfers on the final payment.
- Custom payment plan — bespoke 3–6 month structures on premium names, agreed in writing.
Everything is captured in a short written agreement so both sides know exactly what's been agreed.
-
2
Pay into escrow
You send funds to an independent escrow service — never to the seller directly. Accepted methods:
- Bank transfer or PayID (most common, usually clears same-day in Australia)
- Credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex)
- International wire (allow 1–2 business days)
Escrow holds the funds. They are not released to the seller until you have the domain.
-
3
Change of Registrant — domain put in your entity's name
As soon as escrow confirms payment, Flair lodges an auDA-compliant Change of Registrant (CoR). This updates the registry record so the domain is legally registered to your entity — your ABN, your name, your contact details.
For .com.au and .au names, auDA requires the registrant to have a verifiable Australian connection (ABN, ACN, business name, trade mark, or close-and-substantial connection). Flair verifies eligibility upfront so this step completes without delay — usually within a few hours of payment clearing.
-
4
Receive the domain password (EPP / auth code)
Once Change of Registrant is approved, Flair emails you the EPP code (also called the domain auth code or domain password). This is the unique key that lets you transfer the domain to any auDA-accredited registrar of your choice.
You have two options:
- Leave it where it is — the domain is yours regardless of which registrar holds the record. No action required.
- Transfer to your preferred registrar — paste the EPP code into the inbound transfer form at Hostinger, Crazy Domains, Netregistry, Synergy Wholesale, GoDaddy, or any auDA-accredited registrar. Flair sends step-by-step instructions.
-
5
Confirm receipt — escrow releases funds
You confirm the domain is in your account. Escrow releases the funds to the seller (less Flair's flat 15% success fee for sellers, or net of buyer-side broker fee where applicable).
Your 48-hour buyer protection window starts the moment the domain lands in your name. If the name doesn't fit, you change direction, or you discover an issue you weren't aware of — return the domain and Flair refunds 100%, no questions asked.

The transaction flow — FAQ
How long does a Flair domain transaction take?
Typically 1 to 3 business days from agreed price to the domain landing in your registrar account. Bank transfers and PayID clear fastest; international wires can add a day. Change of Registrant for .com.au and .au domains usually completes within hours of escrow clearing.
What is escrow and why does Flair use it?
Escrow is an independent third party that holds the buyer's funds until the domain transfers cleanly. Flair uses escrow on every sale so neither side has to trust the other — buyers don't pay before they have the domain, and sellers know funds are good before they release the asset.
What is a Change of Registrant?
A Change of Registrant (CoR) is the auDA-mandated process for transferring legal ownership of a .au or .com.au domain from one entity to another. It updates the registrant record at the registry. CoRs require eligibility verification — Flair handles this end-to-end so the domain is correctly registered in your name.
What is a domain password (EPP / auth code)?
An EPP code (also called a domain password or auth code) is a unique key that authorises a domain transfer between registrars. After Change of Registrant, Flair sends you the EPP code so you can move the domain to your preferred registrar — Hostinger, Crazy Domains, Synergy Wholesale, Netregistry, GoDaddy, or any auDA-accredited registrar.
Do I have to transfer the domain to a different registrar?
No. After Change of Registrant the domain is yours regardless of which registrar holds the record. You can leave it where it is, or use the EPP code to move it to any auDA-accredited registrar at any time. Flair sends step-by-step transfer instructions if you'd like to move it.
Can I buy the domain in my company's name rather than personal?
Yes — and we recommend it. .com.au and .au domains require an Australian eligibility link (ABN, ACN, business name, trade mark or close-and-substantial connection). Flair will verify the registrant entity at the agreement stage and register the domain to the correct ABN-holding entity.
What payment methods does Flair accept?
Bank transfer (most common), PayID, credit card, and international wire. We can also structure payment plans on premium names — typically 3, 6 or 12 months with the domain held by Flair until the final payment clears.
Is there a refund window if something goes wrong?
Yes. Buyers have a 48-hour, no-questions-asked refund window from the moment the domain transfers into their name. If the name doesn't fit, you discover a trademark conflict, or the team simply changed direction — return the domain and Flair refunds 100% of the purchase price.
What happens if I want to cancel mid-transaction?
If escrow has not yet released, you can cancel and the funds return to you minus any payment-processor fees. Once Change of Registrant has been initiated, the 48-hour post-transfer refund window applies instead.
