The process

From brief to your registrar in 4 steps

Most acquisitions close within 2–6 weeks. We update you at every milestone.

01

Brief & engage

Tell us the exact domain (or shortlist), your ceiling budget, and your timeline. Pay the $95 engagement fee to start.

02

Research & outreach

We identify the registrant, value the domain against comparable .au sales, and make first contact anonymously under Flair.

03

Negotiate to close

We work the price down (and the terms up) inside your ceiling. You approve every counter-offer before we respond.

04

Escrow & transfer

Buyer funds Escrow.com. We oversee the registrar push to your account. Funds release on confirmed transfer.

Why use a broker

DIY vs Flair Broker

Approaching a registrant directly almost always costs more than the broker fee saves you.

Approaching the seller yourself

  • ✕ Identity reveal anchors the price to your brand's perceived budget
  • ✕ No comparable-sales data to challenge inflated asks
  • ✕ Emotional attachment weakens negotiating position
  • ✕ No fallback if the seller stops responding
  • ✕ Self-managed escrow / contract risk

With Flair Broker

  • ✓ Anonymous — owner never learns who's buying
  • ✓ Valuation backed by 1,000+ closed comparables
  • ✓ Detached, professional negotiator on your side
  • ✓ Persistence — we follow up over weeks if needed
  • ✓ Escrow.com + auDA registrar transfer handled end-to-end
★★★★★
"We'd been trying to secure damprid.com.au for years with no luck. We tried reaching the owner directly and got nowhere. Flair not only managed to secure it for us — they did it at a fraction of the cost we expected. Exceptional service."

Frequently asked

What founders ask before engaging

How much does a domain broker cost?
$95 AUD non-refundable engagement fee to start, plus a 15% success fee on the final purchase price — only payable if the domain is acquired. No retainers, hourly rates, or hidden costs. On a $10,000 acquisition you'd pay $95 + $1,500 = $1,595 total.
Why is there an engagement fee at all?
The $95 covers the upfront work — registrant research, ownership history, comparable-sales valuation, and the first round of anonymous outreach — even on briefs we ultimately can't close. It filters tyre-kickers, lets us commit real time to your brief, and keeps our success fee market-leading.
Can you really acquire any .com.au or .au domain?
If a domain is registered, the registrant can sell it. Our engaged-brief close rate is over 85%. The exceptions are domains held by major brands as defensive registrations and a small number of owners who refuse contact entirely — we'll tell you upfront if your target falls into either bucket, before you pay.
Will the seller know I'm the buyer?
No. All outreach and negotiation happens under Flair's name. The seller never learns your identity, brand, or budget — which routinely saves clients 30–60% versus approaching the registrant directly.
How long does an acquisition take?
Most acquisitions close within 2–6 weeks of engagement. Simple deals with responsive owners can close in days; high-value or contested negotiations occasionally take 8–12 weeks. We update you at every milestone.
What happens if you can't acquire the domain?
You owe nothing beyond the $95. We'll send you a written status report — who owns it, what they wanted, why the deal fell over, and our recommendation on alternative names worth pursuing.
What if the seller's price is above my budget?
We negotiate strictly within the ceiling you set. If the seller won't move below it, we don't close — you owe nothing more. We can also re-approach later (markets and motivations change) at no extra engagement fee within 12 months.
Is escrow really necessary?
Yes. Escrow.com (a licensed payment institution) holds the buyer's funds and only releases them once the domain is confirmed in your registrar account. It protects both sides and is non-negotiable on every Flair brokered deal.
